A Florida-based delivery service has entered the Guinness World Record by setting up the world’s most giant charcuterie board. The artisanal spread, at 769 pounds, was unveiled by Boarderie on Wednesday. It features a variety of gourmet cheeses, cured meats, dried fruits, nuts, and crackers arranged tastefully on a wooden, marble, or slate board. Boarderie, founded in 2021 by Julie and Aaron Menitoff of Palm Beach, Florida, is a new direct-to-consumer cheese and cured meat company that’s been getting much attention. Oprah Winfrey picked the company’s Arte board for her favorite gifts guide in 2022, and two of its founders recently wowed Lori Greiner on “Shark Tank” enough to score a $300,000 investment for a 9% stake in the business.

The company says the record-breaking charcuterie board was made possible thanks to sponsors like Columbus Craft Meats, Yupik, Celebrity Goat, Divina, and Dufeck Wood Products. All the food that went into the board was donated to a local charity called The Lord’s Place after the event.

To create your charcuterie board, start with an array of decorative serving bowls or plates to hold the cheeses and meats. Then, add ramekins filled with pâtés and rillettes for an extra savory component to the board. Toss in some sliced fresh fruits for color and a sweet counterpoint to the savory components of the board. Dried apricots, for example, pair well with many types of cheeses. Alternatively, try adding some pickled foods to your platter to bring out the tanginess of the flavors on the board.

Once you have the fillings in place, it’s time to add the sliced cured meats and cheeses. Aim for an even distribution of the various items on your board to ensure everyone can enjoy them all. For a more visually appealing presentation, consider cutting the cured meats into smaller slices, making them easier to handle and eat.

Finally, top the board with a selection of nuts and dried fruits for crunch. These snacks are a great addition to any cheeseboard and can help add texture, sweetness, and color. Dried figs, for example, are a fantastic pairing with many hard cheeses, including brie and manchego, and dried apricots are great with softer cheeses, such as smoked Gouda and Gorgonzola. Add some pickled foods to your charcuterie board for an added sour punch. Pickled cauliflower, for instance, is an excellent complement to many types of hams and salamis. Similarly, pickled red onion greatly contrasts the smoky flavor of bacon. The possibilities are endless!
