This year, the instant messaging platform WhatsApp launched many new features. One such feature was sending high-resolution photos on the app, a great way to share photos with friends and family. But, the problem with this method is that it can eat up your data very quickly. And also, you have to repeat the same steps each time you want to send a photo. Thankfully, WhatsApp has added a new feature allowing you to send high-quality images in simple steps.
The new feature is a long-awaited addition to the WhatsApp app, and it will let you quickly send HD photos to your contacts on the app. While the app does compress photos sent through it to reduce their file size and make them easier to send, the new feature will prevent this compression from happening and preserve the original resolution of the image. This will give your images a much better look and feel to them.
To enable this new feature, you must update your WhatsApp app to the latest version. Once you have updated the app, you will see a new HD button at the top of the photo-sharing screen next to other image editing tools like Crop and Rotate. Tap on this to enable the HD option. By default, the photo will be sent in standard quality, which means WhatsApp will compress it to reduce its size. But, if you check the HD option, the photo will be sent in its original high-resolution form, which should provide your contacts with a much better-looking photo.
This feature is only available for photos shared within conversations on the app. The company will roll out the feature to all users over the coming weeks and bring HD video to the app later. WhatsApp parent company Meta says the feature will help users fine-tune their photo sharing based on several factors, including internet speed and data consumption.
To send a high-resolution photo on WhatsApp, tap the attachment icon (the paperclip) inside a chat and select the photo you wish to send. Then, tap on the ‘HD’ button at the top of the screen. Once you have selected the HD option, the photo will be sent to your contact in its original high-resolution form without any compression.
The feature will be handy for people using WhatsApp frequently to share high-resolution pictures with friends and family. The only downside of this feature is that it will require more data to transfer the high-resolution images compared to standard-quality photos. Nonetheless, it is a great way to share your photos with the ones you care about, and it’s worth trying out. Just be sure you are using a WiFi network when doing so, as it will take up your data balance if you are not connected to a WiFi network.
