Google Meet’s new Zoom-like gallery view is ‘gradually’ rolling out in different parts of the world, the company said in blog post. It is expected to be available to everyone by the end of the week. Initially, you could only see four people on-screen at a time, but with the new Meet’s tiled layout, you will be able to see 16 participants at a go. Google announced this new feature last week with many eagerly waiting to see how it was going to work.

However, Zoom’s gallery view is still able to show more participants at once than Meet’s. You can see the thumbnails of up to 49 people at a go on Zoom, depending on the power of your CPU. Despite this, Meet’s jump to allowing up to 16 people is an improvement in itself. What is even more fascinating is that you will also be able to present a single chrome tab. In addition, the service improves video quality in dim lighting while at the same time filtering out background noise.

It is expected that background noise cancellation will be available to G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for users on the web in the coming few weeks. After that, it will be made available to mobile users. Meet, like other videoconferencing services, has witnessed a tremendous increase in popularity amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a blog post, Google said the service is now adding close to 2 million new users per day. Better, the company has already extended their free access to some of the most advanced Meet features from July 1st to September 30th. You can therefore maximize your use of Meet by getting the most out of these free features that are readily available to all the users.
