As per the latest reports, it is believed that Samsung’s next flagship galaxy phone will come with a screen having a 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy S11 will rely on Samsung’s own high refresh rate displays, which it had initially sold to competitors rather than using it in their own handsets. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we have come across rumors of the Galaxy S11 (Or Galaxy S10, depending on the rumors you believe) featuring a 120Hz display.  Last November, a twitter leaker reported that a hidden 120Hz setting had been found in a beta version of the Note 9’s One UI Software.

However, the anticipated change by Samsung does not come as a surprise since the benefits of increasing screen resolution have become more marginal. In fact, quite a number of phone manufacturers are now turning to higher refresh rates in order to give their phone displays an upper hand. Google Pixel 4 and OnePlus are among the most notable phone manufacturers to make the changes with both their recent release featuring 90Hz displays.  With a higher refresh rate, motion and scrolling tend to appear much smoother on the screen of a phone.

If the rumors are true, users of Samsung smartphones will have a reason to put a smile on their face since they can now get the most out of their phones. Gamers as well as other software animations will be the biggest beneficiaries if we are to go with benefits that come from a higher refresh rate. No wonder gaming phones like the Asus ROG Phone 2 and Razer Phone 2 have gone further with their 120Hz displays.

Regardless of whether the next flagship galaxy phone is called the Galaxy S10 or Galaxy S11, the new changes will definitely make it a force to reckon with. The good news is that Samsung’s next flagship is due to be announced on February 11. For now we only have to wait and see whether the new Samsung flagship is going to offer good value for your money.
