On September 4, 2023, Marvel Entertainment released the new teaser for ‘Loki’ Season 2. The 45-second clip delves into how Tom’s Loki is getting pulled through time over and over.

The new Loki 2 teaser reveals that the god of mischief has been thrown into a time loop and that he will have to find a way to stabilize himself before he’s taken to a place where he can’t return to the TVA anymore. This will mean he must team up with Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), who betrayed him in the first season finale.

In addition to Hiddleston and Di Martino, the trailer features Owen Wilson reprising his role as Mobius M. Mobius, a TVA agent trying to apprehend Loki. It also includes the return of Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, who’s at the top of the TVA’s ranks, and Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, a TVA agent investigating the mystery of the Void. The teaser also introduces new cast member Kate Dickie, who will play a villain.

It was clear that ‘Loki’ Season 2 will explore more of the multiverse, which was established in the first season. The new teaser confirms that the show is taking place in a reality that includes both Asgard and Midgar. We already know that the tidal wave created by He Who Remains destroyed Midgar, so it would make sense that Loki would have to travel to Earth to protect the Asgardians.

While the teaser does not reveal how this multiverse relates to Kang, plenty of clues suggest that it will. One is that the tidal wave that hit the Asgardians in the first season created a portal between the Asgardian world and another dimension. The other is discovering a giant Kang statue in the TVA headquarters, reminiscent of the Avengers: Endgame finale scene.

The teaser also hints that the multiverse may contain more than two timelines. We can see a version of Odin with his wife Gudrun in it and a Norse Loki based on the Viking era. The TVA pruned this Loki variant to keep him from causing havoc on the multiverse.

The second season of ‘Loki’ will be available on Disney+ starting October 6. It was directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead and written by Eric Martin. It stars Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, Ke Huy Quan, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. It will feature several guest stars, including Michael Waldron and Katie Dickie. It will be produced by Dan Deleeuw, Kasra Farahani, and Eric Martin, with Hiddleston executive producing. It will be the first time that Hiddleston has worked with Waldron since ‘Game of Thrones.’ Neither Benson nor Waldron have commented on the possibility of a third season. However, if it gets greenlit, the premiere date will likely be in 2024 or 2025.
